The city of Castellón de la Plana was built in the middle of the XIII century between the Mediterranean see and orchards of orange and lemon trees. In the beginning it was surrounded by a big wall but soon the population increased quickly and by the end of XVIII century the walls were demolished. Castellón is today an open and luminous city where you can find beautiful churches and buildings built during the XVIII century when its demographic and financial development had an important growth thanks to the trade of hemp.
